Paper & Mixed Media Workshop

Experience a variety of different techniques such as rusting paper, mono printing on
teabag paper, layering with textile fibres, mark making and mixed media. All of these
elements will be combined to make compelling representations of seen and partially
transparent layers in a simply constructed artist’s book of varying sizes and formats.
Personal or found objects/text, rusted metal, wax and cord may also be added to add
gravitas to your book. Students of all abilities and experience welcome. Bring your
curiosity, sense of adventure and play.
What's included: All materials will be included. You may like to bring your own pencil case with favourite drawing media. Tea and light refreshments will be provided for morning tea.

Learn to paint the frozen moment of a gentle rolling wave on the beach with a view on the background environment, headland and rocks. Capture the transparency, colour and texture of the water movement by using the right brush strokes and variation between translucence of colours and opacity of the white
In this one day workshop, you will learn a quick and easy way to paint a realistic representation of water – still and in motion. Marcel’s expertise and easy to learn techniques developed over the years of experimentation and research, will enable you to achieve instant results.
What will I learn?
Through step-by-step demonstrations and ‘hands-on’ exercises, you will learn how to:
- capture the effects of the transparency of water, using layering techniques
• choose the right brushes and mediums to reproduce highly realistic effects
• achieve the different textures created by water
• recreate the emotional value of water.
A new image to be painted will be presented on the day.

Glass Blowing by Appointment - Montville

LAMP WORK For 1 Person or 2 people max per class.

• No experience needed
• Introducing and explaining the basics of blowing glass on a torch
• Showing and explaining the steps in creating glass forms

• Blowing of vessels, miniatures, vases, ball balls and ornaments
• Sculpture solid glass into figurines, jewellery, earrings, Christmas ornaments and art piece
• What to wear: cotton long sleeve shirt, jeans or work pants, closed boots or protective footwear & sunglasses (working glass is hot and you will be working on a big flame, how exciting).

Artist Background
Wolfgang Engel has been blowing glass for 35yrs and has his work in many collections around the World.
He has taught many students in Germany and Australia and will make you feel at ease during all stages of your art endeavors.
People are fascinated by hot glass being shaped and manipulated. It is great to get your ”hands on” and experience the process.

Impressionism Painting Discovery

Recycled Papermaking 101

RECYCLED PAPERMAKING 101

Papermaking 101 is a full day workshop of hands-on creative fun, suitable for adults and children from age 10 upwards. You will be introduced to the skill of hand papermaking with recycled paper pulp of different colours.
The basics are covered – the preparation and choices of materials for making paper pulp; sheet forming, pressing and drying, and some basic way of embellishing your paper, such as embossing and the addition of inclusions into the vat. Once you know the basics you can continue to make paper and learn more at home, using the materials you have to hand. Handmade papermaking lets you recycle, rethink, reuse.
Inclusions
All tools and materials needed are provided.
Tea and coffee is provided.
Students will need to bring their own lunch and snacks as there are no shops nearby where food can be brought.
Student numbers are limited to four (4).
Please Note:
Students will need a way of bringing home wet sheets of paper.
Stiff cardboard at least A4 in size, covered with plastic to stop it wetting, is suitable

Intro to Stencils - Yandina Creek

INTRO TO STENCILS WORKSHOP

In this workshop you will be able to cut loose and immerse yourself in 2 hours of fun with Sarah Sculley, street artist and muralist.
You will be learning how to create stencils and use spray paint to produce a colourful, creative and edgy 300 x 300mm quality canvas artwork to take home.
While paying attention to concept development and colour palettes, you will be shown how to create a rich and vibrant abstract background on your canvas by building up layers of spray paint.
Once the background is complete, Sarah will show you how to photograph, prepare and cut your own stencils. There will also be a range of stencil templates for you to choose from. You will learn how to effectively cut and spray the stencils.
Different spray paint techniques and blends will be demonstrated to create your own unique design.
All materials and safety gear will be provided. You only need to bring your wonderful self, covered in old clothes that you don’t mind spilling paint on. Everyone will walk away from this colourful workshop with their own street art masterpiece and the skills to create your own stencils and techniques to spray them.

Weekend Painting Workshop - Buderim

With her own work often described as “macropointilist” Mellissa is keen to help you be able to find your own style and will encourage you to paint bolder and brighter, with an emphasis on vibrant colourful brush stokes. The weekend will be spent painting your choice of subject from your photos and sketches.
Day 1 will be spent exploring the use of brushes and other tools to make semi abstract works inspired by flowers.
Day 2 will be encouraging a different scene, perhaps an abstracted landscape or a continuation of the floral theme depending on your own tastes.
Mellissa Read-Devine is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW and is the Acrylics tutor at the RAS Art School.

Japanese Woodblock Printing

A two-day introduction to the carving and printing techniques of water soluble pigments using the Kento registration system for multi blocks.
Materials: There will be a materials fee of $30.00 payable directly to Susan on day one.
The materials pack will include:
- 2 x Japanese Shina blocks, suitable for A4 paper
- Japanese Kozo/kitakata mix printing paper 10 X A4 sheets
- Additional A4 acid free cartridge paper for proofing
- Bamboo baren
- Hake brush
Carving tools, watercolours and pigments, carbon paper, tracing paper and drafting film will also be supplied for the workshop.

ABOUT THE TUTOR
www.instagram.com/susanhaddockartist. Professional printmaker with over 20 years experience. Susan has a Masters in Printmaking from the College of Fine Arts, UNSW. She has taught printmaking techniques at University, TAFE and community colleges. Susan is also a landscape painter.
Susan learnt Mokuhanga from Japanese master printer Katsu Yuasa and has just completed a residency focussed on Mokuhanga in Barcelona, Spain.
