Competition Organiser
This competition is run by Arts Connect Inc (ACI), a not-for-profit volunteer-led organisation for artists and art lovers, who run the Open Studios Sunshine Coast event.
1. Privacy
In order to enter the competition, users will be required to provide a username, password and e-mail address. Privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for information about the data we may collect and use. 2. Indemnity
To provide this service, ACI has acquired a license from Proxi software, a website platform, herein “the Platform”, whose services are owned and operated by Map Your Idea, Inc. d/b/a Proxi, a State of Delaware Corporation with offices in Seattle, WA. ACI and Open Studios Sunshine Coast do not assume any liability in the event of misconduct or damage caused by the use of this website platform.
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless us, or our officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, debts, or expenses (including but not limited to attorneys’ fees), to the extent allowed by applicable law, that arise from or are caused by: (i) your use of and access to “the Platform”; (ii) your violation of these Terms; (iii) your violation of any third party right, including without limitation any infringement of copyright, property, moral or privacy right; or (iv) any claim that your Content caused damage to any third party. This section shall survive these Terms and your use and termination of “the Platform”.
3. Creating an account for the competition
Creating an account requires certain information including your name and email. At the time of account creation you become an account holder on “the Platform” and represent that (1) you are authorized on behalf of yourself, (2) the party creating the account is at least the legal age of 18 and is not barred from using “the Platform” under applicable law. As a reminder, information provided when creating an account is saved on “the Platform” and such information is managed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
When you create an account you have an option to load a ‘bookmark’ onto your phone for convenience in accessing your account on “the Platform”. This bookmark is not an application and can be removed at any time.
3. Objectionable material
Any user who finds material posted on 'the Platform' by another user objectionable is encouraged to contact us via e-mail. We are authorized by you to remove or modify any data submitted by you to “the Platform” for any reason we feel constitutes a violation of our policies, whether stated, implied or not.
4. Links
The platform may contain links to other web sites and files. We have no control over the content of those sites or files and can not ensure it will not be offensive or objectionable. We will, however, remove links to material that we feel is inappropriate as we become aware of them.
5. Copyright
You also agree that you will not post any copyrighted material that is not owned by yourself or the owners of this website.
6. Suitable Material
In your use of “the Platform”, you agree that you will not post any information which is vulgar, harassing, hateful, threatening, invading of others privacy, sexually oriented, or violates any laws.
7. Authorisation
By clicking on the “Agree” checkbox at registration, you agree to use “the Platform” as specified above.
8. Termination
We may terminate your Account at our sole discretion, at any time and without notice. Upon any termination, discontinuation, or cancellation of access to “the Platform” or Account, all provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive will survive, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, indemnification, warranty disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution provisions.
9. Exclusions
Members of the ACI Management Committee, the Open Studios Sunshine Coast working group and participating Artists are ineligible to enter the competition.
10. Duration
The competition runs from 10am Friday 17 July to 11:59pm Sunday 26 July.
11. Winner
The winner of the competition will be determined by random draw from the top ten highest scorers. The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email as soon as possible.

By visiting each studio and checking in with the Proxi app, you will earn at least 1 point.
The following remote studios and supporting studios will earn you 2 points: H03, H05, H15, H28, C01, C19.
The following supporting businesses will earn you 1 point: S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6 & S7. (refer to the app for these sites)
The following sponsor studio will earn you 3 points: H01.

Share a Post: Repost or share a social posting from @openstudiossunshinecoast depicting your favourite studio to earn 1 point. Paste the link in the URL box.

This is the 'Locations' screen.
You can choose from 'Remaining' or 'Visited'.
Scroll down to view each studio & select.
Select 'Near Me' to find studios near you.
Use the filter to search on trails and open days.
This is the 'Activities' screen.
You can choose from 'Remaining' or 'Completed'.
Click on each Activity to see how you can earn points.
This is the 'Progress' screen.
Here you can see a summary of 'Points Earned', 'Places Visited' & 'Activities Completed'.
Click on each remaining award to see how you can earn points and the badge.
This is the 'Share' screen.
Click on the 'Copy Link' button then the 'Share Passport' button. Invite your friends to join the challenge.
From any of the menu options, click on the 'Open Map' button.
This is the 'Map' screen.
Here you can click on any of the coloured map points. Blue circles with the 'C' identity represent Coastal studios and the green circles with the 'H' identity represent Hinterland studios. Circles with an 'S' identity represent supporting businesses. Visiting each site will earn you at least one point.
Studio information is displayed in the lower panel. Slide the panel to the right or left to display the next studio or supporting business.
You can click on the 'Browse Locations' button to reveal more locations.
You can click on the 'Passport' button to bring back the 'About' screen and menu.
Clicking on the top right-hand right-arrow '>' will show the trail filter. Select one of six trails.
Click the top right-hand down-arrow 'v' to close the trail filter.
Click on the top left-hand 'Advanced Filters' button to reveal the filter parameters.
You can search for 'Certain Words' by entering the text and clicking the '+' button.
You can search on one or more of the 6 trails by selecting any of the buttons.
You can search on one or more open days by selecting the '+' icon for any particular day.
Complete the search by clicking on the green 'Search' button.
Or clear the search by clicking on the 'Clear all filters' button. This can also be done by clicking the clear filters icon when the filter panel is closed.
Click on the studio information panel at the bottom of the screen to expand it. You can find more information and photos on the Open Studios Sunshine Coast website by clicking the 'more' link. It will open a new tab so you may need to come back to the original Map screen tab when you are finished.
You can click on the 'Check In' button if you are at the studio or you can click on the 'Get Directions' button to open a new tab to Google Maps.
Upon clicking the 'Check In' button, you have three options to check in to the studio or supporting business to earn points.
Your first choice should be to click on the 'Try Geolocation to Check In' button if you are on site and your geolocation facilities are enabled on your mobile phone.
Your second choice should be to click on the 'Scan QR Code to Check In' button. The camera facilities must be enabled on your mobile phone. Find the QR code on the site and point the camera at it.
The last choice should only be used if the mobile coverage at the site is not working. Take a photo of the artist (or supporting business shopfront) and remember who they are. When you next come to a place with better mobile coverage, return to the location in the app, open the location and click on the 'Submit Photo for Approval' button. Add an image from your photo library and click the submit button. The event organisers will review your photo at a later time and either approve it or reject it.

Getting Started
How do I get access to the app?
Once you register, click the link in your confirmation email. This takes you to the "About" screen, which is your starting point in the app.
What are the main screens in the app?
- About — your starting screen after registration
- Locations — browse studios by "Remaining" or "Visited," filter by "Near Me," trail, or open day
- Activities — view "Remaining" or "Completed" activities and how to earn points for each
- Progress — see your Points Earned, Places Visited, and Activities Completed, plus remaining awards
- Share — copy and share your passport link to invite friends
- Map — an interactive map of all studios and supporting businesses
Do I need to create an account?
Yes. Creating an account requires your name and email. You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to create the account on your own behalf.
What's the bookmark option when I create an account?
You can save a bookmark to your phone for quick access to your account. This is just a shortcut, not an app installation, and can be removed at any time.
Using the Map
How do I tell studios apart on the map?
- 🔵 Blue circles with a "C" = Coastal studios
- 🟢 Green circles with an "H" = Hinterland studios
- Circles with an "S" = Supporting businesses
How do I find more details on a studio?
Tap the studio information panel at the bottom of the screen to expand it. You can also click "more" to open the Open Studios Sunshine Coast website in a new tab (remember to come back to the Map tab afterward).
How do I get directions to a studio?
From the studio's info panel, click "Get Directions" to open Google Maps in a new tab.
How do I filter or search for studios?
- Tap the top-right arrow (>) to open the trail filter and select from six trails; tap the down arrow (v) to close it.
- Tap "Advanced Filters" (top left) to search by keyword, trail, or open day. Click "Search" to run it, or "Clear all filters" to reset.
Checking In & Earning Points
How do I check in at a location?
Tap "Check In" on a studio or supporting business page, then choose one of three methods:
- Try Geolocation to Check In (first choice) — use this if you're on site with geolocation enabled on your phone.
- Scan QR Code to Check In (second choice) — enable your camera and scan the QR code found at the site.
- Submit Photo for Approval (last resort only) — use this if mobile coverage is poor. Take a photo of the artist or shopfront, then submit it later via the location's page once you have coverage. Organisers will review and approve or reject it.
How many points do I earn per location?
- Most studios: 1 point for checking in
- Remote/supporting studios (H03, H05, H15, H28, C01, C19): 2 points
- Supporting businesses (S1–S7, see app for sites): 1 point
- Sponsor studio (H01): 3 points
