Jacky Lowry has a love affair with printmaking, and with collagraph prints in particular. This printmaking technique, where the printing plate is essentially a collage, is particularly suitable for capturing details from the patterns in plants that she delights in.
Her collagraph printing plates incorporate real plants, and prints taken off these plates reveal delicious details. Captured are the shapes and patterns of leaves, such as interesting vein arrangements and/or interesting leaf shapes, and of little plants or plant branchlets in interesting arrangements, and of grasses, deporting themselves in calligraphic curves. Hand colouring with water colour highlights the details.
