Karan Gerard
Karan has been working with watercolours for over 14 years and is mostly self-taught. She originally painted realism until realizing she preferred to emphasize colour and emotion than reality. The past five years she has been perfecting the technique of watercolour on rice paper using wax as a resist, a technique not found in Australia. These paintings have drama and emotion as rice paper is very thin and can easily rip making it even more difficult to control the water flow. The effects are whimsical and at times magical. Karan lives and exhibits in the Sunshine Coast.
