Libby Derham

Libby Derham's artistic practice is rooted in her appreciation for nature and its transformative impact on mental health. Her work expresses sensory experiences and the immersive quality of plein air painting. By transcribing birdsong into lines, she captures vibrant interactions with nature, creating expressive contemporary landscapes and floral artworks using watercolour and ink.As an award-winning artist and fourth-generation watercolourist, Libby is committed to evolving the medium within contemporary art. She won the Annie Tan Memorial Watercolour Award at the Queensland Regional Art Awards (2021) and has been a finalist in various Australian and international competitions, including Fabriano In Acquarello in Italy and the USA (2024) and Splash: McClelland Contemporary Watercolour Award (2021). Libby’s work can be found in permanent public and private collections.
