Nicky Carey was born in Dublin Ireland. His art has visual musical qualities which embody the lilts and rhythms of his birth country. In early 2017, he moved to Reesville near Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, where the landscape was reminiscent of his home country. This has inspired a more colourfully whimsical approach in his new works. Printmaking is one of Nicky Carey’s true artistic passions, from Lino printing, Woodcut & Monotype printing, to different forms of etching. All original, complex, and time-consuming processes. He draws inspiration from many sources, including his Hinterland surroundings and his Irish homeland.
